God’s Masterpiece and God’s Plan

I vividly remember the births of both of my children like they were yesterday.  As I held them in my arms, I remember thinking how beautiful they were.  I remember praying over them and thinking of all the possibilities for their lives.  I recall thanking God for them and being in such awe of the blessed miracles that both were.  From their little heads to their tiny toes, I held God’s greatest masterpiece within my hands.  Even as my girls continue to grow, I stand amazed by their unique personalities, inquisitive minds, and sweet spirits.  I can’t help to look at them and see God’s greatest work!

Did you know that our heavenly Father, God, sees you and me the very same way? He sees us as masterpieces.  Ephesians 2:10 NLT states, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Other versions of the Bible use the word “workmanship.”  Merriam-Webster.com describes workmanship as “something effected, made, or produced, and the art or skill of a workman.” Dictionary.com defines a masterpiece as “a person’s greatest piece of work.”  I also like how Merriam-Webster.com defines a masterpiece as “a work done with extraordinary skill especially: a supreme intellectual or artistic achievement.”

Are you catching a glimpse of what God thinks about you and me?  You and I are God’s greatest work. Psalm 139:13-14 NIV states, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” God took time to meticulously create us, and in creating us, He also had a plan in mind for us.  The latter portion of Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that God created us to do good things that he planned for us long ago.

Additionally, Psalm 139:16 highlights the fact that God saw you and me before we were born, recorded the days of our lives, and laid out every moment of our lives even before they happened.  That means God had us on His mind from the beginning, and He had a destiny and purpose in mind for us as well! Our Father ALWAYS has a plan and is indeed intentional! Can I get an “AMEN” for God’s masterpiece and God’s plan?! I pray that these passages remind you of your precious worth and divine purpose because I know this is a helpful reminder for me!

Reflect & Relate

Reread Ephesians 2:10 and all of Psalm 139 and journal how the passages apply to you.

Let Us Pray

Dear God, my Father, thank you for reminding me that I am a masterpiece created by you so that I can do good works that you planned for me long ago.  Thank you for reminding me that I am fearfully made, you saw me before I was born, recorded the days of my life, and laid out every moment of my life even before it happened(s).  Please continue to remind me of my precious worth and divine purpose when doubt tries to creep in.  Please lead, guide, and direct my path, as I know you promise to do through your word.  I love and praise your holy name.  In the name of Jesus, Amen.
